CarbonTool 3.0 is here: turn your data into clearer decarbonisation decisions. See what's new

Process emissions
at scale

Manufacturing operations generate measurable Scope 1 and 2 emissions from energy, fuel and industrial processes and significant Scope 3 from raw material extraction, purchased goods and outbound logistics. CarbonTool structures facility-level data into a complete, audit-ready inventory across your entire operational footprint.

Understand the Process

1

Process and combustion emissions

Fuel combustion, industrial process emissions and on-site energy generation are the core of Scope 1 for manufacturers. CarbonTool maps each emission source by facility, process line and fuel type, with custom emission factors where standard factors do not fit your operation.

2

Purchased energy across facilities

Electricity and heat purchased across multiple facilities generate Scope 2 emissions that vary by grid region and energy mix. CarbonTool calculates location-based and market-based Scope 2 simultaneously. Both are required under GHG Protocol and CSRD.

3

Raw materials and supply chain

Upstream emissions from raw material extraction, processing and inbound logistics typically represent the largest share of a manufacturer’s Scope 3 footprint. CarbonTool structures Category 1 and Category 4 inventories using supplier data or spend-based proxies and tracks accuracy as primary data replaces estimates.

4

Waste, water and outbound logistics

Waste disposal, wastewater treatment and outbound product distribution all contribute calculable Scope 3 emissions. CarbonTool quantifies each category by facility and distribution route. Pperational efficiency improvements have a quantified environmental dimension alongside the cost one.

How?

Built for multi-facility operational complexity.

Manufacturing emissions data sits across energy management systems, fuel purchase records, production logs, waste manifests and supplier invoices. CarbonTool consolidates it into one structured inventory by facility, scope and emission source, calculated by recognised methodology and maintained continuously, not rebuilt each reporting cycle.

Configure

Consolidate facility-level data

Connect energy meters, fuel records, production data and waste reports across all facilities into a single Scope 1, 2 and 3 inventory. CarbonTool applies the correct emission factors by fuel type, grid region and process, automatically updated as grid intensity data changes.

Identify emission hotspots

Break down your footprint by facility, process line, product category and supply chain tier. CarbonTool surfaces where emissions are highest relative to output. Reduction investment is directed at the areas with the greatest measurable impact, not spread evenly across the operation.

Model decarbonisation pathways

Compare energy transition scenarios, fuel switching options, supplier substitution and process efficiency improvements with CAPEX estimates and projected emissions reductions. CarbonTool turns reduction targets into investment decisions, with the data to defend them in front of a board or an auditor.

CarbonTool structures data at facility level, with each site contributing its own Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 data to the consolidated group inventory. Emission factors are applied by location, grid region for Scope 2, local regulatory factors for process emissions where applicable. You can report at group level, by country, by facility or by product line from the same underlying data.

Yes. CarbonTool supports product-level footprint calculation aligned with ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol Product Standard. Emissions from raw material extraction, processing, manufacturing energy, packaging and outbound logistics can be allocated to individual products or product categories, which is increasingly required in customer procurement and regulatory product declarations across European markets.

CSRD requires manufacturers to disclose Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions with audit-level traceability, including value chain data and double materiality assessment. CarbonTool structures all three scopes to the standard required by the European Sustainability Reporting Standards, maintains data provenance back to source, and generates disclosures in a format that auditors can verify.

CarbonTool provides a structured supplier data request workflow that allows suppliers to submit activity data such as energy consumption, material volumes, transport records, without needing their own carbon accounting system. Where supplier data is unavailable, spend-based or physical-unit proxies keep the inventory complete while primary data collection is in progress. Accuracy improves as supplier engagement increases.

Your process emissions are measurable.
Your reduction targets should be too.

Manufacturers facing CSRD obligations, customer sustainability requirements or SBTi commitments need facility-level emissions data that is traceable, methodology-backed and audit-ready. CarbonTool gives you the structure to build it across every site without consultant dependency or annual rebuilds.
